09. Universidade de Coimbra
This place is the country’s oldest seat of learning founded in 1220. It is also declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. There are some portions of it which served as the royal residence. The Alta and Sofia wings are most famous spots in the University as they reward visitors with a number of star features like the astonishing BibliotecaJoanina. This is a library installed in 1717 by the king himself. Those with a head for heights can climb the landmark 18th-century clock tower for a grand perspective over Coimbra, one of the country’s most attractive cities.
