06. Convento do Cristo, Tomar
The castle of Convento do Cristo is indeed a charming one in the city of Tomar. This castle stands out on the historic scene of the country. This castle was built in 1160 as the head of Order of the Knights Templar. This place is mysterious, masonic heritage tangible and beguiling. With the years passing by, many ravishing decorations have been carried to this castle. The spiral staircases here are somewhat concealed in perfection. And the convent’s magnificent Manueline window, designed by master sculptor Diogo de Arruda, remains one of the most architecturally appealing aspects of any building found in Portugal.
