08. Jostedal Glacier, Norway
Norway is full of geological wonders. The Jostedal Glacier has the title of being the largest glacier in Continental Europe with 487 km2. The highest point of this glacier is 2018 meters above sea level while the lowest point reaches 350 meters. The total length of this glacier is 60 kilometers, and the maximum thickness is 600 meters at some points. In 2012, the glacier lost 50 meters of ice. Back in 2006, the ice retreat was 146 meters. This is the reason why the ice climbing has been prohibited here.
