The National Gallery is the city’s most important architectural landmark. It is one of the finest art collections in Europe. The bulk of the collection is housed in the VeletrzníPalace(VeletrzníPalác), a relatively modern structure built in 1925 that holds the 19th- to 21st-century works. Along with Czech arts, famous artists like Monet and Picasso’s artworks are also there. The Sternberg Palace here houses some of the famous art pieces focusing on Baroque period, Greek and Roman period. Other important art pieces here are the works by El Greco, Goya, Rubens, Rembrandt, and Van Goyen.
